Pre Care: Avoid prolonged sun exposure (2-4 weeks ideally), Use an SPF 50 with Zink, No spray tan or self tanner 2 weeks prior to the treatment, suspend all sun exposure 3-7 days before the treatment, No Accutane in the past 4-6 months, if you have a Herpes or Cold Sore outbreak history then you should prompt an antiviral prophylaxis (start 2 days before and 3 days after), no aspirin or blood thinners 7 days prior, patients prone to hyperpigmentation should pretreat with a melanin suppressor with the direction of the provider, increase water intake to 64 oz per day or more, moisturize your skin twice daily, & stop the use of topical retinols 3-4 days prior to the treatment.
Post Care: Swelling, redness, brown crusty sandpaper feel, and a sunburn sensation are normal and should be expected. The more aggressive the treatment then the longer the swelling and redness (5-14 days). Ice cold vinegar soaks are recommended (1 cup of water to 1 Tbsp of distilled white vinegar). Do not scrub the treatment area, DO NOT use any topical products that have NOT been discussed with the provider, Use ONLY healing balms approved by the provider, apply and reapply a small amount of healing balm every 2-3 hrs or as needed to maintain a moist environment, No exercise, sweating, excessive heat, saunas, or hot tubs for 10-14 days, No scrubbing the treatment area for 10 -14 days, no pet hair on you or allowing your pet to lick the treatment area, avoid sun exposure to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation, use an SPF 50 or higher at all times to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation, sleep slightly elevated for first 2 nights, use a clean pillowcase and change it frequently, make up can be used 72 hrs after the treatment, & minimize alcohol intake to limit bruising.
